Meet Emily – The Sprint Zero Listener Persona

At Sprint Zero, we aim to connect with listeners who feel our content was made just for them. Mike and I love the discovery process of consultancy—meeting new people and uncovering what makes them tick. At a previous employer where Jon and Mike met, the discovery process was called Sprint Zero. This is how we came to the name for the podcast.

As we are coming up to a year of the podcast, we wanted to look back and really try and hone in on who our podcast is for. Recently, we took the time to better understand who we’re trying to reach, and that process gave us a clear picture of “Emily.”

We employed user centric thinking to try and understand between ourselves who Emily is. We thought about who she is; what her passions and desires are; her frustrations, fears and what makes her tick.

We identified two segmentations of people who listen to our podcast. There are two camps, the camp that are our die hard listeners who have been with us from the start and comment and contribute on our LinkedIn posts. But then there is also this second group, there may be more, who might not be as active on LinkedIn and consume their content through other mediums. They are curious and have a growth mindset about where they want to move their career to or what they want to pursue after they graduate or career shift.

Is this you? Are you “Emily”?

Emily isn’t just a listener; she represents the individuals we aim to empower. She’s navigating change, balancing personal goals with family aspirations, and seeking clarity in an overwhelming landscape of possibilities.

Let’s dive into who Emily is, why she listens to Sprint Zero, and how the podcast aims to be her guide in the Power Platform space.

Who is Emily?

Emily is a graduate or a career changer. She’s stepping away from a familiar and sometimes safe but unfulfilling path to create a brighter future in tech for herself and her family.

She’s curious: A friend introduced her to the Power Platform, sparking an interest that hasn’t gone away.

She’s determined: Emily has started her learning journey with the PL-900 course, building foundational knowledge. She has a thirst for knowledge.

She’s a bit overwhelmed: The vastness of the Power Platform ecosystem makes her unsure where to start or what direction to take.

She’s a people person: Emily thrives on effective communication and adapting her approach to different audiences—skills that will be invaluable in tech consulting.

She’s introspective: Despite her accomplishments, Emily often struggles with Imposter Syndrome, doubting her abilities while those around her see her potential.

She’s neurodivergent or wants to be an ally: Mike and I both have ADHD, we are starting to realise that parts of this diagnosis helps us when it comes to consultancy. We want to ensure the podcast is a safe space for all. Essential skills are a must have part of any consultant’s toolkit. Ranging from empathy to consistency and responding to feedback. With a global trend of companies actively seeking employees with neurodivergent thinking, we aim to reach this group of people and provide a safe space for conversation.

Why Does Emily Listen to Sprint Zero?

Emily isn’t just looking for a list of technical features or a roadmap of certifications. She’s looking for something deeper:

Inspiration: She wants to hear stories of others who have made similar leaps, showing her what’s possible. She wants to hear about their journeys and what makes them feel uncomfortable.

Guidance: Emily needs help narrowing her focus in a way that aligns with her goals and lifestyle. We will endeavour to look at the craftsman rather than the passion mindset. A term coined by Cal Newport in his book So Good They Can’t Ignore you.

Community: She craves a tribe of like-minded people who will understand her challenges and celebrate her wins and allow her to be her true self always.

Clarity: Whether it’s breaking down technical jargon or sharing real-world use cases, she appreciates content that helps her connect the dots.

At Sprint Zero, we’re committed to delivering content that true to meeting these needs.
